NEXT GENERATION ENERGY ALTERNATIVES INCORPORATED (NGEA) is a non-profit corporation which aims to rent roof space on large buildings where photo-voltaic (PV) panels can be mounted to generate clean power. Electricity from these panels will be sold to the electricity grid at 42 cents per kilowatt hour for 20 years under Ontario’s standard offer contract programme.
NGEA’s main activities will be: (1) membership sales; (2) renting roof space on condominiums, housing co-ops, and other large buildings to mount PV installations; (3) selling electricity from these PV installations to Toronto Hydro under standard offer contracts; and, (4) using funds from membership sales and electricity sales to mount more PV installations.
NGEA’s Board of Directors consists of seven volunteers with expertise in law, communications, and administration of non-profit organizations.
NGEA will give residents of condominiums, housing co-operatives, and other large urban buildings an opportunity to actively fight against global climate change. March, 2008 |
